COVID-19 Update: The Backstory and Protecting the Healthcare Workers May 6th
The first-ever San Francisco Surgical Society Virtual meeting.
We will have three guest speakers to give us updates on the COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
Our speakers will be Dr. George Rutherford III, Professor, Epidemiology & Biostatistics at UCSF, Director, Prevention and Public Health Group, and Dr. Joseph Forrester, Surgeon, Stanford University and former Lieutenant, U.S. Public Health Service, and Dr. Janice Louie, Medical Director, San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH) Tuberculosis Prevention and Control Program.
Dr. Rutherford will give the backstory of the COVID-19 pandemic in his talk entitled, “The short history, explosive epidemiology, and prevention of COVID-19”.
Dr. Janice Louie will show a few slides specific to the pandemic in San Francisco.
Dr. Forrester will talk about “Protecting the Healthcare Provider during an Outbreak: Lessons from Ebola applied to COVID.” He was part of the CDC response team dealing with the last Ebola Virus outbreak.
