December 2023 Meeting – Dr. Joshua Mezrich

Speaker:  Joshua Mezrich MD, FACS
Professor of Surgery
Division of Multiorgan Transplantation
University of Wisconsin Department of Surgery

President Mahanty invited Dr. Joshua Mezrich to speak at the December meeting.

Dr. Mezrich is a transplant surgeon and the author of the best-selling novel – When Death Becomes Life – Notes from a Transplant Surgeon. He is a graduate of Weill Cornell Medical College. He completed surgical residency at the University of Chicago and his research at Massachusetts General Hospital. In addition, he runs an immunology lab at the University of Wisconsin and has a podcast (The Sett) where he interviews leaders in Transplantation.

Dr. Mezrich is the author of When Death Becomes Life.

June 7, 2023 Meeting of the San Francisco Surgical

Helen Struck is an attorney at the Habeas Corpus Resource Center, a state agency that represents indigent men and women under sentence of death in California. She will be speaking to the SF Surgical membership about California’s death penalty system, addressing the challenges presented by representing indigent persons in their capital post-conviction proceedings.

Dr. Andre Campbell Begins His Presidency.

Dr. Andre Campbell began his Presidency of the San Francisco Surgical at the October 2021 meeting. He took over from Dr. Laurence Yee.

Several new members were approved by the Executive Committee.

San Francisco Surgical Reopening Meeting

President Laurence Yee and Annette Bronstein re-initiated in-person meetings by organizing the July meeting at One Market in San Francisco. There was a strong turn-out with everyone excited to be meeting in person again.

New Officers were announced.
