SUMMARY:September Meeting - Panel Discussion on Future of the Society
DESCRIPTION:Some of the challenges facing our country are intertwined with challenges faced by the Society and its members… from the impact of COVID on our patients\, our families\, and our interaction to the profound sadness and anger we feel as we see the consequences of ongoing racism and disenfranchisement in our society-at-large.  Others are specific to the Society – competing surgical societies\, finding time to attend meetings\, and location of the meeting.\n\nWe are bringing together a panel of surgeons\n\n\n Planning the Future of Our Society. \nWe will have a panel discussion on how the Society can bring value to all Surgeons in the San Francisco Bay Area. Our panelists will include: \n\nDr. Andre Campbell (UCSF)\nDr. Sherry Wren (Stanford)\nDr. Benard Palmer (UCSF Eastbay)\nDr. Marissa Boeck (UCSF)\n\n\n\nDr. Carla Pugh will hopefully be able to join to help moderate the session. \nTopics to Discuss:\n1) How can we increase engagement within the San Francisco Surgical Society?\n2) How can we increase diversity and inclusion within the San Francisco Surgical Society? \n\n3) Should we be considering other formats of our meetings?\n4) What value does our society bring its members?\n5) What is the role of our Society relative to other surgical societies?
